This role is perfect for an experienced cybersecurity professional with a passion for teaching and mentoring individuals who are new to the field. $50-$100

Per hour depending on experience.

About the Role:

As a Cybersecurity Mentor, you will guide and teach aspiring cybersecurity professionals who are new to the field. You will provide them with a solid foundation in cybersecurity concepts, assist with hands-on labs, and support their journey to obtain certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and CISSP. You will help students build confidence and prepare for a successful career in cybersecurity.

Responsibilities:

• Teach and guide students who are just starting their cybersecurity careers
• Teach foundational cybersecurity concepts such as network security, threat analysis, cryptography, and compliance
• Conduct virtual classes and hands-on labs to reinforce core cybersecurity principles
• Assist students in preparing for certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISSP, and other entry-level security exams
• Provide constructive feedback on technical exercises, projects, and incident response scenarios
• Share insights about career paths in cybersecurity, industry trends, and job responsibilities
• Help students develop their problem-solving skills in real-world cybersecurity scenarios
• Create and maintain lesson plans, presentations, and resources tailored to beginners

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, with a deep understanding of advanced security concepts and technologies
• Extensive knowledge of security protocols: firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SIEM, threat hunting, and more
• Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools such as Splunk, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Wireshark
• Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for beginners
• Must possess certifications like CISSP, CEH, or equivalent advanced expertise
• Passion for mentoring and helping students succeed in their cybersecurity careers

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, macOS
• Threat Analysis Tools: Nessus, Metasploit, Wireshark, Burp Suite
• Security Technologies: Firewalls, SIEMs, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS
• Network Security: VPNs, IPsec, SSL/TLS
• Compliance Frameworks: GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, ISO 27001
• Cloud Security: AWS, Azure, GCP
• Incident Response: Threat hunting, vulnerability management, forensics
• Programming/Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell
• Automation Tools: Ansible, Terraform, SOAR platforms
