The Ighalo Systems is seeking an experienced DevOps Mentor to join our team on a part-time, remote contract basis. This role is ideal for a highly skilled DevOps professional who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping beginners break into the field. You’ll be instrumental in guiding aspiring engineers as they learn the tools, principles, and practices of modern DevOps.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Between 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM EST (time may vary within this window)

About the Role:

As a DevOps Mentor, you will be responsible for teaching core DevOps practices and tools to students who are new to the field. You’ll help them build foundational knowledge in CI/CD, version control, infrastructure as code, containerization, monitoring, and cloud deployment. Through live sessions, hands-on labs, and certification prep, you will empower students with the skills they need to succeed in DevOps roles.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor students new to DevOps, helping them build both theoretical and practical understanding
• Teach key DevOps principles: Agile, CI/CD, automation, version control, and collaboration
• Guide students through hands-on labs using modern tools like Git, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible
• Help students prepare for industry certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Docker Certified Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), and HashiCorp Terraform Associate
• Conduct engaging and interactive virtual lessons
• Provide personalized support, code reviews, project feedback, and career insights
• Share best practices for cloud architecture, DevOps pipelines, and security
• Encourage student growth through consistent support, feedback, and guidance

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related roles
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and cloud infrastructure

• Must hold one or more top-tier DevOps certifications such as:
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Google Professional DevOps Engineer
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate|

• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Configuration Management: Ansible, Puppet, Chef
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, New Relic

• Fluency in scripting or automation languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Excellent communication and teaching skills; able to break down complex topics for beginners
• Strong understanding of DevOps culture, Agile methodologies, and collaborative workflows
• Availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM EST
