The Ighalo Systems is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer Mentor to join our team on a part-time, remote contract basis. This role is perfect for an experienced network engineer with a passion for teaching and mentoring individuals who are new to the networking field. - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Between 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM EST (time may vary within this window)
About the Role:
As a Network Engineer Mentor, you will guide and teach aspiring network engineers who are new to the field. You will provide them with a solid foundation in networking concepts, assist with hands-on labs, and support their journey to obtain certifications such as CCNA and CompTIA Network+. You will help students build confidence and prepare for a successful career in network engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor and guide students who are just starting their network engineering careers
- Teach foundational networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and switching
- Conduct virtual classes and hands-on labs to reinforce basic networking principles
- Assist students in preparing for certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, and other entry-level exams
- Provide constructive feedback on technical exercises, projects, and troubleshooting scenarios
- Share insights about career paths in network engineering, industry trends, and job responsibilities
- Help students develop their troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in network scenarios
- Create and maintain lesson plans, presentations, and resources tailored to beginners
Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional network engineering experience, with a deep understanding of advanced networking concepts and technologies
- Extensive knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, MPLS, IPsec, and more
- Hands-on experience with networking hardware such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Aruba, Dell, or similar equipment
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization technologies is a plus
- Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to break down complex topics for beginners
- Must possess CCNP certification, with CCIE (R/S) or equivalent advanced expertise preferred
- Availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM EST
- Passion for mentoring and helping students succeed in their networking careers
